About Jay

For many years I have been fascinated with how men and women interact with one another, beginning with attraction, proceeding to the dating and courtship process, marriage, and then married life together.

I became particularly curious about how a couple that was initially head-over-heels in love with each other could, after some years go by, find themselves bitter, angry, and resentful towards one another. I wondered how this unhappy state could be restored to happiness, or, even better, how the unhappiness could be prevented in the first place. This drew me to the field of marriage counseling, and now I am thrilled to be involved in helping couples restore their marriages back to a position of love and respect for one another.

I love helping men and women learn how to get along better, and to rediscover the love they once had.

You can find out much more about me and how I work in my blog and in this interview.

Credentials

I earned a Master of Arts degree in Counseling from Saint Mary's College of California. I also hold a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University.

I have additional training as a marriage therapist from the world-famous Gottman Institute, and I have studied solution-focused brief therapy with the Brief Family Therapy Center. I'm a member of the national, state, and local associations of marriage therapists.

Volunteer work has been an important part of my career. I spent a year doing volunteer counseling at a domestic violence shelter in Livermore, and another year at a community health center in downtown Pleasanton.
